Fire alarm incident at 33 KV (FM 200 Fire Suppression system activation)

1.

FIRE ALARM INCIDENT at 33
KV (FM 200 Fire Suppression
system activation)

2.

DESCRIPION
At 4:53 am on 22.03.2025, a fire alarm was activated. The 33 kv
Control room operator checked the area and no any fire was
observed.
At 5:23 am a fire alarm activated again. The Control room operator
checked found that the FM-200 system in the LV SWGR Room was
activated and the alarm signal could not be eliminated. After alarm
system activation, the operators immediately notified the
Management (PC/Operation/EPC). The Management visited the Site
immediately started investigation.

3.

CAUSE ANALYSIS
After on-site inspection, it was found that all the fire alarm detectors
in the 400V AC power distribution room of the 33KV control building
were activated, but there was no fire accident at site.
After further investigation, it was found that there was a 220V AC in
the fire detector intelligent monitor module box. The interlock wire
from the HVAC control box to the fire detector intelligent monitor
module box had a 220V AC voltage connected to it, but the normal
working voltage of the module was DC 24V. This AC voltage burned
the fire detector intelligent monitor module, causing more than 20
fire alarm detectors to alarm. According to the program settings,
when two fire alarm detector are activated at the same time, the FM200 system will be activated after 30 seconds.thereby causing the
FM-200 system to malfunction

4.

CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN
1. The wire from the HVAC control box to the fire alarm detector
monitor module box were disconnected, and the fire alarm signal
returned to normal.
2. The damaged modules in the fire alarm module box were replaced
3. The solenoid valve was connected to the second (spare) group of
gas cylinders (FM 200) and activate the spare gas cylinders.

5.

FM 200 FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
The FM 200 Fire suppression system is a clean agent fire system that
uses heptafluoropropane (HFC 227ea) to extinguish fires quickly and
efficiently without causing damage to sensitive equipment or the
environment. It is widely used in areas where water-based fire
suppression (suck as sprinklers) could cause damage to assets like
control rooms, electrical rooms, server/data rooms.
