of filling the tanks. This is known as BOG (boil off gas).
To collect the vapor created when loading ships (ship vapor

Ice formationIce blocks falling down from the arms during loading
and disconnecting arms can be dangerous for personnel

The loading arms are purged with nitrogen to
atmosphere so the chances of asphyxiant concentration are
very small

Atmospheric air content of 78% nitrogen so releasing N2 to
the environment is harmless.
HC gas
Flaring from tanks due to excess BOG is mostly avoidable.
When it is unavoidable due to plant emergency situation , the
impact to the environment is not significant.
Lube Oil
The BOG compressor is situated in a curbed area. Any oil
spill will be collected in a sump and sent to the COC system

Routine Checks & Quality controlThe LNG product quality is controlled in the upstream
liquefaction. However, this unit has automatic sampling
systems to monitor the quality of:
LNG in the loading header during ship loading to verifying
the quality of the cargo
Ship vapour return to the boil off header to monitor the
quality of the vapour. This determines whether to route the
gas to the compressor or to flare (high on Nitrogen, low
heating value)
On the LNG tanks a density difference alarm is installed. If in
alarm the possibility for rollover exists. In this case a loading
pump can be started on full recycle to mix the liquid in the
tank
All the quality control instruments will have to be monitored
by the Panel Operator
