Limited Slip Differentials–
Transfers torque from the slipping wheel
to the wheel with better traction

Uses clutch packs behind the side gears
to provide up to 75% of the torque to the
gripping wheel
Advantages

with increased tractive effort

Despite locking action, still provides smooth
distribution of torque when cornering

416S & 434S Hydraulic SystemVariable displacement piston pump – load sensing
– Body contains a number of pistons arranged in a circle around a
central driveshaft, Pistons are in contact with an angled plate
(swashplate).
– As the body is rotated, the volume in the piston bores moves from
minimum to maximum - drawing oil in and pushing it out
– Pump senses load requirements and varies swashplate angle
accordingly
• bigger angle for high flow at lower pressure
• smaller angle for higher pressure at lower flow
– Swash angle is minimal until a service is selected - oil is only
pumped on demand
