Mearlite Bismuth Oxy Chloride Products
• Mearlite is the trade name for Sun Chemical’s Bismuth Oxychloride pigment dispersions
• Formulated dispersions for specific applications
• Differ by composition: solvents, resin, BiOCl concentration, etc.
• Pourable dispersion, therefore easy handling and non-dusting
• Products tend to settle, so proper and gentle dispersing of the Mearlite products is required prior to usage
• Only available in “Pearl Color” = the “Mother of Pearl” or “Liquid Metal” look
• Synthetic octagonal crystal - extremely uniform with a narrow particle size distribution
• Transparent pigment with an Exceptional Luster
• Limited light fastness, the product tends to darken by sunlight

Application: PES Buttons, Bowling Balls and Acrylic Sheets
BiOCl content = 35%
• Mearlite Ultra Bright UPFMT-NV
Application: PES Buttons, Bowling Balls and Acrylic Sheets
BiOCl content = 35%
Upgraded version of UPFMT with lower VOC
• Concentration of 1% of either UPFMT or UPFMT-NV is recommended on total
formulation for the PES buttons
• An UV absorber is incorporated into these 2 Mearlite products, since the BiOCl
tends to darken by UV (sun) light. It is recommended though to test if an
addition of extra UV absorber is required.

Application: solvent and water coatings
Improved light stabilized over non-treated grades
BiOCl content = 50%
As a starting point, the concentration of 3-5% on total formulation
is recommended
• Mearlite Ultra Bright USD
Application: solvent borne dip coatings for glass beads, etc.
BiOCl content = 25%
As a starting point, the concentration of 5% on total formulation is
recommended
