PANDROL QTrack®Vibrations mitigation
PANDROL QTrack Umanjenje vibracija
Many metros and trains run along urban environments though
tunnels. The vibrations transmissibility to the foundations of the
buildings above the tunnel might be controlled to limit the structure
born noise.
The PANDROL QTrack® system can be adjusted to the requirements
in terms of vibration mitigation by adjusting the stiffness of the strip
located below the rail foot. Different levels of stiffness are available:
QTrack® SP (Standard Performance): 1-2 dBv
QTrack® HP (High Performance): 3-5 dBv
QTrack® XP (eXtra high Performance): 8-12 dBv

STANDARDS
EN 13146-5:2012 and EN 13481-5:2012 – Railway applications. Track
EN 13146-5 deals about the test methods and procedures whilst EN 13481-5 determine the requirements.
These apply to a complete fastening assembly and it is relevant to signalling currents, not to stray currents control
EN 50122:2010 – Railway applications. Fixed installations. Electrical safety, earthing and return circuit
Part 1: Protective provisions relating to electric shock and safety – nothing to do with stray currents control
Part 2: Provisions against the effects of stray currents caused by DC traction systems
This norm defines a maximum average intensity on the stray current of 2,5 mA/m. This is the unique functional
requirement to avoid electro corrosion in the long term1.
The current is the consequence of an average rail potential, URE divided by an averaged track-to-earth resistance,

conditions in lab environment:

Different encapsulations with different QT ELEC protection levels are tested

The offices and production plant of Pandrol CDM Track are ISO 9001 certified for:

The design of new metro and train projects in tunnels suppose many constraint factors to be taken into consideration: Novi

Most of the new projects in tunnels should be equipped with a track infrastructure allowing multimodal use (rolling

There are some cases that the height left for fitting of the track superstructure is limited by diameter of the
tunnel invert. The absence of anchors/dowels in the PANDROL QTrack® system makes possible the rail to be
accommodated within a super reduced slab thickness with only 100mm below the lowest part rail.

outer of the cities. These are still intersecting traffic roads in areas that should
still be compatible for running trains and traffic vehicles.
