Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin (born September
17, 1985, Moscow) is a Russian ice hockey player, left
forward and captain of the NHL club Washington Capitals.
Winner of the 2018 Stanley Cup.
Three-time world champion (2008, 2012, 2014).
He began his professional career in Moscow
Dynamo at the age of 16. At the 2004 junior selection, he
was selected by Washington under the overall first
number goals.
He spent 19 seasons in the American club, in 2010 he became captain.
He made his debut in the Russian national team at the age of 17, becoming at
that time the youngest player in its history.
He participated in thirteen world championships, also played in three
Olympic Games (2006, 2010 and 2014).
