4. Imagine that you are doing a project “Wild animals in Captivity” together with
your friend. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news.

about the photo:

say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;

2.

Hi, Kate! I’ve just found two illustrations for our project on “Wild animals in Captivity” and I’d
like to discuss them with you.
1 Give a brief description of the photos, justifying the choice of the photos for the project
I think these photos are a good choice for our project as they show two completely different
places where wild animals can live. In the 1st photo there is a caged tiger. In the second photo we
can see some tigers in the wild.

3.

2 Say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos
for the project;
2. There are some obvious differences between the photos. The 1st photo shows a
lone tiger in the zoo, where no freedom of movement. By contrast, the 2nd picture
depicts an adult tiger with two tiger cubs near the river in the wild nature. These
animals have wide open space to move around.
I think these pictures are a perfect illustration of different wild animals'
habitats.

4.

3 Mention the advantages and disadvantages (1-2) of the two types of habitats;
3. Indeed, although these two types of habitats are very different, they both have
their advantages and disadvantages (pros and cons). Both habitats can be rather
hazardous which is their significant drawback. In the wild animals are killed by
people (poacher [ˈpəʊʧə] браконьер) for their beautiful skin. As for zoos, they
can’t recreate animals’ habitat. This makes them unhappy and restless
(беспокойный). Also, some animals do not breed in the zoo as they feel
stressed. But living in the zoos, animals are always fed and have medical care, in
the natural environment animals have a lot of space to live happily and hunt.

5.

• express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you would like
wild animals to live in captivity and why or why not.
4. All in all, both pictures make me think of wildlife. As for me, I am sure that
wild animals should live free in their natural habitat because they are part of
nature.
That’s all. Let me know what you think about the pictures. Bye for now!

total). You have to talk continuously.
