word ‘ticket’.
• Etiquette is a set of rules.
• Etiquette means the formal rules of correct
and polite behaviour.
• Each society has its own etiquette. It’s
important to follow the rules.

• Greeting is an act of communication.
• Greetings are different.
• In the USA people often shake hands
• In some cultures people hug each other

• In some Asian countries people bow when greeting.
• Bowing is a gesture of respect.
• They bow to greet, to say ‘goodbye’, to say they are
sorry, to say ‘thank you’

• Good and bad manners make up the social rules of a country.
They are not always easy to learn. Make up sentences.
Talk loudly

Pick one’s nose
Say “hello” and “thank you”
Spit in the street
Cover your mouth when
you sneeze or cough
Example: It is bad manners to talk with your mouth full.
It is good manners to greet a person
