The Northern Territory is a federal Australian territory inthe central and central northern regions of Australia.
It shares borders with Western Australia to the
west South Australia to the south and Queensland to
the east .To the north, the territory is bordered by
the Timor Sea, the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of
Carpentaria.
Despite its large area—over 1,349,129 square
kilometres ,making it the third largest Australian
federal division.The Northern Territory's population is
about 244,000

• The capital and largest city is Darwin. with apopulation of 145,916. It is the smallest and
most northerly of the Australian capital cities.
5. Symbols
The flag's colours consist of the officialTerritorian colours of black, white
and ochre (making it the only flag among
Australia's states and territories not to feature
the colour blue).
They were officially granted by royal
warrant of Queen Elizabeth II on 11
September 1978. The arms,
uniquely in Australia, incorporate all
of the territory's floral, animal and
bird emblems: the Sturt's desert
rose , red kangaroo and wedgetailed eagle
