Global Youth Service Day Matching Grants ProgramFinancial Terms:
Budget should accurately
reflect project costs, requests for
changes must be approved by
American Councils.
Support letter must include
monetary value of the support
provided.
100% of funds are transferred
upon award.
Each applicant is responsible
for considering taxes and other
fees.
IMPORTANT: Grants will not cover any
salaries, durable goods such as Tshirts, gifts, construction materials,
and computer equipment. Alumni
and partners are expected to
volunteer their time as cost sharing.
SOME TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION
Include bank transfer commissions, fees and taxes in
your budget
Start working on your application early!
Legal issues what official documents/ permissions your
project might require.
Have someone proof read the proposal.
Evaluate your project: Do you have enough time/
experience/money to complete it?

WHAT CAN YOU GET AS AN IN-KIND CONTRIBUTION?• Venue at University, School, American Corner, etc.
• Stationary provided by the partner organization
• Electronic equipment (Computer, Projector, Speakers, Printer, Scanner)
provided for free by a partner organization
• Equipment and Building Materials
• T-Shirts
• Food and Drinks – local businesses donating food, snacks, or water to
the project.
• Marketing Materials
• Labor – when someone volunteers for the event or donates their time for
free.
• Transportation – if transportation to the event is covered by participants
or partners
• Money – if community decides to collect money for the cause/event
