3. Education

He studied at the 1st Kiev Gymnasium, then at the
Naval Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg. However, his
poor health put an end to his naval career. In 1907, he
enrolled in the Kiev Polytechnic Institute.

4. Inventions

In 1909–1910, Sikorsky built his first helicopters, though
only the second could lift its own weight.
In 1910, he switched to aircraft, creating his first planes
with Fyodor Bylinkin.
In 1912, he received top awards for his C-6 and C-6A
models, making his name famous across Russia.
