The different areas of Thailand all see differences in weather. However, there are
similarities across the country. There are three seasons:
• A hot season from March to May.
• A rainy season from May to October. This is
caused by the annual south-west monsoon.
• A dry and cooler season from the end of
October to the beginning of March. This is
caused by the annual north-east monsoon.
It is cooler in the north and hotter in the south.

7. How is Thailand Ruled?

As its name suggest, the Kingdom of Thailand is a monarchy. The country is a
constitutional monarchy, which means that although it has a king, it also has an
elected government. Australia is also a constitutional monarchy.
The current King of Thailand, who has reigned since December 2016,
is Maha Vajiralongkorn. The military (the army) have
seized power and taken control of Thailand several
times in the past one hundred years.
The previous ruler was King Bhumibol Adulyadej
