Semantic additions are not allowed in translation.
The translator has the right to make semantic
additions but without violating the norms of the
Russian language. For example:
The conductor came around for old Mrs
Morrow’s ticket.
...Вошел кондуктор проверять билет у миссис
Морроу.
The translator is forced to insert the word
проверять as this is required by the norms of the
Russian language.

5. OMISSIONS

In some cases, the translator may use certain omissions if it is necessary to
avoid the violation of the linguistic or stylistic norms of the Russian
language. However, every omission must be justified. You should not abuse
this right and omit everything that is difficult to translate.
The English language is characterized by the use of paired synonyms. When
translating one of the equivalent synonyms is omitted. For example:
The treaty was pronounced null and void. Договор был признан
недействительным.
Winter rains in the Jordan are violent, while they last. Зимой в долине
Иордана бывают страшные ливни.
The bold and courageous struggle of the working class and its Communist
Party carried the day. ("Daily World", 20.111.73)
Мужественная борьба рабочего класса и его коммунистической
партии увенчалась успехом.

6. OMISSION

just and equitable treatment справедливое отношение;
The treaty was pronounced null and void Договор был
объявлен недействительным (или: «аннулирован»);
The proposal was rejected and repudiated Предложение
было отвергнуто;
by force and violence насильственным путем и т. д.1.
Burning or combustion is the process of uniting a fuel or
combustible with the oxygen in the air. Сгорание — это процесс
соединения горючего с кислородом, содержащимся в воздухе.
