Altai Nature Reserve was сreated on April 16, 1932.

It is one of the largest nature reserves in the country, with an
area of 871,206 hectares and It occupies more than 9% of the
territory of the Altai Republic.

The Altai Nature Reserve is one of
the top five in Russia in terms of
biodiversity. The territory of the
reserve does not have a single
road.

The Altai Nature Reserve is home to 59
rare and endangered species of animals,
which is about 52% of all protected in the
Altai Republic. There are animals such as
bears, deer, wolves, wild boars and many
others.
