Creative Executions Overview
Below are the executions that are most successful and
commonly seen for mobile app games. Most often, wake
screens with video elements will outperform static.

to showcase a compelling
message.
A muted inline video
automatically plays when the
device screen is turned on.
Subtle animation that begins
when the device is turned on.
An interactive, animated story.

prompting users to tap on the
screen.

Spotlight: Interactive Wake Screens
Full creative specs linked here
• Interactives provide unique, dynamic experiences that
can leave customers wanting more
• There are multiple creative pathways to engage with
interactives:

With brand-forward interactions

Interacting with characters or
other, non-game content

With simulations
■ Mimicking an in-app scenario, like
playing a game
Potential formats to build interactives from:

Videos broken into interactable segments
using .aep files or .mov renders

Layered .PSDs

• Videos can be used in different, engaging ways, which can
be tested against each other:
Informative Videos - Showcasing details of the game
(not gameplay), such as levels, characters, prizes, etc
Example Videos - Walks through the game as it’s
being played. Often includes rewards graphics and
animations to draw in customers.
Promotional Videos - Having an anniversary or other
promotional video is a great way to present a game
to new customers, and make them feel as though
they’re part of a whole. Please see this link for an
example

Follow all Safe Zones
Critical content must be placed within the wake screen
layout “Safe Zone” (areas diagrammed in dark gray at
right).
• Critical content includes: copy, CTA
button(s), product image(s), and brand
logo.
• Content placed outside of the Safe Zone is
at risk of being covered/obscured by other
standard wake screen information, such as
the time and date.
• Note that safe zones boundaries differ
between the wake screen landscape and
portrait orientations.
• For videos within AVA executions, critical
content can not overlap with the
mute/unmute button and video timer
(highlighted in red)
