piece around the inner piece while it is
curved in the shape of a forearm.
Line of stitching (outer piece)
This pattern is designed for an arm that measures approximately 28 centimeters from elbow to wrist. To scale it for your
arm, take the measurement from the tip of your elbow to the pisiform bone of your wrist. Take this measurement and
divide it by 28 cm. Then multiply this fraction by 100. Format the shape and scale it by the percent you just calculated. You
can lock the aspect ratio or calculate a new percent using the maximum circumference of your forearm divided the same
value, 28 cm.
Use the measurement on page 3 to make sure that you have printed the pattern at the right size. To correct: divide 17.1 (if
you haven’t scaled as above) or the new correct measurement (can be ascertained by either multiplying 17.1 by the scaling
fraction [your arm length / 28] or using PowerPoint/OpenOffice Impress/Keynote to determine the dimensions) by your
measurement and multiply by 100. Scale to that percentage in the print menu, and ensure that borders are turned off.
This document is distributed as a .ppt to allow the parts to be easily resized before printing. A future update will add the
positions of the embossed patterns and the metalwork, as well as the straps and the innermost leather sheath worn
between the shirt and the vambrace. A guide to the construction of the vambrace is also planned.
