History of the
university
• At the beginning of the 20th
century, Donbass became the
largest industrial center of Russia.
At the same time, this steppe
region has established itself as an
agricultural zone where
commercial bread was grown. All
this contributed to the opening of
an educational institution here,
capable of meeting the needs of
developing agriculture.

Today, the University is one of the leaders of the Spartakiad of Universities of the Luhansk People's Republic
in 10 sports. Currently, 14 sports are cultivated in the Lugansk State University.
