Public transport
The current route
network of Kaliningrad
is served by 50 routes
(475 vehicles, the total
length of the route
network in double-track
calculation is 1640 km),
of which 32 routes are
operated by large-class
buses, 13 directions
belong to minibuses, 3
routes are operated by
trolleybuses and 2 by
trams.

3.

Kaliningrad has made a deliberate attempt to improve bus services and unify
the appearance, for which a fleet of orange buses, trams and trolleybuses were
purchased from both Russia and Belarus.

4.

The urban transportation system does not run
on a schedule, unlike intercity transportation, but
on average buses run at intervals of about 10
minutes on most routes, so you don't have to wait
long. In addition, almost all bus routes are
duplicated by several minibuses, as well as
trolleybuses and trams.
The fare in public transport, regardless of the
distance of travel, is fixed and is 33 rubles in buses,
trolleybuses and streetcars (if you pay by card, and
37 if you pay by cash) and 28 rubles in minibuses.
On most publis transport you will be met by a
conductor who will charge you for the fare.
Recently they have started to refuse conductors
and make payment by card through a terminal, or
cash to the driver.

Taxi
Cabs are quite a popular form of transportation, basically like everywhere else
in the world. It is not expensive, but it is not cheap either. Prices, of course,
depend on traffic congestion, weather and demand. Now everything is done
through the Uber or Yandex.Taxi app. The average price tag for a trip around the
city is 170 rubles, which is generally a good price. As for intercity trips, the prices
go far beyond 200, 300 and even 400 rubles. Also, very often people take a cab
to the airport, since there is simply no other option but express. It costs around
500-600 rubles to get there.
The fleet of cars has been renewed. With the departure of Western brands,
our city has switched to new Korean and Chinese brands in a short period of time.
Some of the models are even built in our city.

Car rental
Car rental in Kaliningrad is straightforward and it
is generally enough to show your passport and
driver's license although most rentals insist drivers
have a minimum of three years of driving experience
and be aged at least 24. Extras such as child seats
and navigation systems are available and most
companies can provide you with the necessary
paperwork to allow you to drive across borders.
The car can even be picked up at the airport,
which is quite convenient. In general, you can find a
lot of different services that provide car rentals. The
most unusual one is probably the service where the
owners themselves restore cars of the 80s and 90s
and then rent them out.

7.

Train
The train is an equally popular
means of transportation. In 2022,
6.8 million people rode the railroad.
Now people are transported by new
trains "Lastochka", which run on a
clear schedule and are divided into
"fast" and ordinary. The fare is quite
inexpensive and the travel time
averages 30 minutes. By train you
can reach not only any city on the
coast, but also the region.
