One of the architects
favored by Stalin
was Ivan Vladislavovich
Zholtovsky. He was born
on November 27, 1867 in Belarus, in
the city of Pinsk. At the age of twenty
, the young man entered the
St. Petersburg Academy
of Arts.
He combined theoretical studies at the
academy
with practical activities he worked as an assistant to a number
of major architects. Therefore
, only eleven years later he
graduated from the academy and received
the title of architect-artist.

The ideas of the Renaissance were so deeply shaken
Zholtovsky that he will remain faithful to them until the end of his life. In his architectural
practice, Zholtovsky creates numerous interpretations "in the spirit of Palladio". So, in
1908-1912, the building of the "mansion" was erected on the Patriarchal Ponds according
to the project of Zholtovsky
Tarasova", repeating in style the Palazzo Tiene Andea Palpadio in Vicenza. Fascinated by
Palladio, Zholtovsky
also studied proportions in architecture and art.

Karo Alabyan
Karo Alabyan is an outstanding master of architecture of the 1930s–1950s, who combined
the searches, discoveries and delusions of this dramatic period in his work. Academician
of Architecture Karo Alabyan, feeling the pulse of time, masterfully accurately reflected it
in the projects and implemented works. The uniqueness of Karo Alabyan's creativity is
determined by the impressions of his childhood and the region where he was destined to
be born.

Architectural structures
The first building constructed in the
capital according to his project was
the Central Theater of the Red Army
(now TSATRA), on which he
worked together with a former
classmate V. Simbirtsev and B.
Barkhin.Alabyan's most famous
work of the post- war period is the
ground lobby of the
Krasnopresnenskaya metro station in
Moscow.
