Viktor Robertovich Tsoi is the founder and leader of the rock band "Cinema", songwriter, idol of
the "perestroika" generation. His voice and his songs are the voice and thoughts of an entire
generation. His words resound even now and resonate in the hearts of those who were not yet born
when they were written. Tsoi is a legendary figure in Russian rock.

Viktor Tsoi was born on the twenty-first of June, one
thousand nine hundred and sixty-second year in
Leningrad. His parents were physical education
teacher Valentina Vasilyevna and engineer Robert
Maksimovich. Victor owes his Korean surname and
appearance to his father's grandfather, a Korean. Victor
was the only child in the family.
He read a lot from early childhood, loved to draw and sculpt.
At home, all the walls were covered with pictures in the style of
"fantasy". He had his own special world, closer to animation.

The guitar was given by his parents when his son was in the fifth grade, his father showed the
first chords. By the eighth grade, Victor had already put together a student group "Ward No. 6",
which lasted one year. At the age of eighteen, Viktor Tsoi began to seriously study guitar and
write songs, in nineteen eighty-one he created the group "Cinema". In the springof nineteen
eighty-four, the Kino group performed at the second rock club festival, where it was awarded
the title of laureate. The Kino group has recorded nine albums. "The chief of Kamchatka",
"This is not love", "Night", "Blood group", "The Last Hero", "A star named "The Sun", wide
recognition and real fame fell on the group.

It is still unclear exactly how many songs Viktor Tsoi wrote, according to one version
there are about three hundred of them. Choi's songs take everyone by the soul, in them

car accident . Tsoi fell asleep at the wheel, after which his Moskvich flew into the
oncoming lane and collided with the Ikarus bus.
Several monuments have been erected to Viktor Tsoi.
In Moscow there is a "spontaneous" memorial wall with photos of Tsoi, numerous
inscriptions: "Choi is alive" and quotes from his songs.
