2. What is an Internship?

An Internship is a short term work experience for students to create a pipeline of university talent intended to
meet the entry level hiring needs of our world-class Early Careers Programs and direct entry level hire roles.
Internships offer students:
Paid work experience

Networking and Social Events
Community Outreach
Real work experience aligned to their degrees
What is an internship NOT:
× Administrative only work (i.e. filing)
× Summer/maternity leave cover
× A replacement of a full time role

• Region UR Manager collects University Intern requirements via online form and finalizes all approved
Intern requests with local HR Team.
• Region UR Manager shares total intern requests received with Early Career Program Managers to
ensure that the plan aligns with Early Career Programs
• UR Team partners with Campus Teams across target universities to market positions to university
students
• Interns go through an online application, digital video interview and final interview with Intern Manager
• UR Team will create offers, push the onboarding process and maintain contact with the intern
throughout the process, until the Intern is onboard on Day 1.
• ONB will ensure laptops are requested and any logistics needed are ready for Day 1, including
liaising with the Intern Manager.
• Intern Manager is responsible to welcome the intern, monitor progress throughout the internships
period and ensure goals are captured at the start & feedback is updated at a midpoint and end of
internship.
• At mid-point – Intern Manager is to make a recommendation via an online form if they feel the intern
could be a potential for an Early Careers Program
• Region UR Manager pulls the report and shares recommended interns with Early Careers Program
Managers to review and connect if they meet program requirements.
• Intern Manager (+HRM Optional) is responsible to capture the feedback into the workflow and submit.
(Important: to ensure recommendation for Full time/Program hire is added and any supporting
comments).
• Region UR Manager downloads appraisal report and shares with local HR Team for next steps

Digital Interview

Interview invite (1st
Interview). Student has up to
5 days to complete this
interview.
Candidates are matched to
internship requirements
submitted in the plan
(Degree, preferred
qualifications, location etc.)
Talent Pool is built based on
successful Digital Interviews
Hiring Managers are
submitted 3-5 candidates as
a shortlist and invited to
watch Digital Interviews
Unsuccessful candidates will
be dispositioned and sent an
email if they do not pass.
Final Interview to be
arranged by Hiring Manager
Offer
Offer extended 5 days after
final interview
Acceptance will proceed to
