2. What is a monitor?

A monitor is one of the
most important parts of a
personal computer.

3. Relevance of creation

The relevance of creating a
monitor arose due to the
need to display the results
of the work of an electronic
computer in a form
understandable to humans.

4. First monitors

In the early 60s of the last century, designers realized that it was possible to use
an electron beam tube as a replacement for paper in a teletype. Such a device was
connected to an electronic computer via a special cable and could display text
characters.

5. Advanced monitors

At the end of the 80s there was a real scientific and technical revolution.
Companies such as Apple, TI, Radio Shack, Commodore did not just massproduce monitors: they were already hard at work on their design. Competition
in this niche has reduced the cost.

6. Apple and Macintosh

The first Macintosh computer was a monochrome 9-inch display capable of
reproducing raster graphics in black and white. The image size was only 512×342
pixels.

7. VGA

It is worth highlighting the
VGA video adapter, which was
introduced in 1987.

8. Liquid crystals display

The year 1970 can be considered the
year of creation of liquid crystal
displays, until the 70s the LCD device
consumed an excessive amount of
energy, their service life would not
satisfy consumers, and the image
contrast left much to be desired.

9. Nowadays

In 2007, sales of liquid crystal monitors
exceeded those of CRT for the first time.
Their market share was rapidly increasing,
and today it is impossible to buy a new
display with a cathode ray tube, since their
production has actually stopped.
