Ms. Sneha Vishnu More «The study of Efciency and Efectiveness of Warehouse
Management in the context of Supply Chain Management»
The scientific article is devoted to the study of the
problems of the effectiveness of the management
of warehouses and distribution centers in the
supply chain. Implementing WMS for a company
requires significant investment and time (several
months), which should be justified by the benefits
received after the implementation.
The rationale includes an analysis of the cur-rent
situation in the warehouse and in the operation of
the warehouse for a certain period. The firm should
be prepared to change the entire process and
storage system. Only the implementation of WMS
without changing processes shows that saving
money or increasing efficiency is not achieved,
only errors due to human factors are reduced.

WMS
The warehouse management system or
WMS is primarily aimed at controlling
the movement and storage of materials
in the warehouse and consists of
related transactions, including delivery,
receipt of goods, warehousing and
collection of relevant data. A warehouse
management system is a databasedriven computer application to improve
warehouse performance by directing
and maintaining accurate inventory
volumes.
WMSs also direct and optimize stocks
based on real-time information about
the state of the warehouse and the level
of disposal of obsolete stocks. Such
systems often use Auto ID Data Capture
(AIDC) technology, such as barcode
scanners, mobile devices, computers,
wireless local area networks, and
sometimes radio frequency identification
(RFID) to effectively control streams.
After data collection, batch
synchronization or real-time wireless
data transfer to the central database is
performed. The database can then
provide reports on the status of goods in
stock.

5.

All the reasons that afect arehouse operations,
according to the authors, can be divided into
categories such as:
1. cause-effect relationships:
warehouse employee → factors
due to human actions;
3. causal relationships that are
caused by stocks placed in stock,
with their properties, etc.
2. causal relationships that are
caused by warehouse equipment
→ factors caused by warehouse
equipment and tools;
Correlation ratios in terms of
efficiency between operations do
not reflect performance indicators.
Many work tasks and cycles in
the warehouse are repeated, they
can be associated with the work
processes of warehouse
operations. The methodology for
implementing the warehouse
management system is a “road
map” that includes a set of
measures to optimize business
processes.

6.

The main motives for making a decision on the need to optimize
business processes in accordance ith the supply chain
management technology as part of arehouse operations are the
follo ing motives:
1. the need to reduce costs at the enterprise and leveling the crisis;
2. the need for in-depth analysis and optimization of activities;
3. search for competitive advantages;
4. determination of the development paths of the enterprise;
5. quantitative assessment of
the potential effect of the
introduction.
