3. Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde 16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900

Oscar Wilde was born in
Dublin, Ireland. Wilde was a
famous novelist, playwright,
poet, and critic. Oscar Wilde is
one of the most iconic figures
from late Victorian society.
For a long time his name was
synonymous with scandal and
intrigue. At the same time, he
was a great conversationalist
and a man of wide learning.
But his life ended in disgrace
and poverty.
Oscar Wilde
wrote some of
the finest
comedies in the
English
language.

4. He has published two collections of tales

The Happy Prince and Other Stories
in 1888 (Nightingale and the Rose;
The Selfish Giant; The Devoted
Friend) and The House of
Pomegranates in 1891 (The StarChild; The Birthday of the Infanta)
His only novel The Picture
of Dorian Gray was severely
criticized as immoral. It
was published in 1891.

5. Why I'm proud of Oscar Wilde

I`m proud of Oscar Wilde
because he went through
many hardships and he
did not give up until the
end of life. Also, because
he was not afraid to show
in his work human vices.
He was a great writer.
