Justices of the peace in the Russian Federation are
judges of general jurisdiction of the constituent entities
of the Russian Federation and are part of the unified
judicial system of the Russian Federation

3. Justices of the peace and members of their families are subject to the guarantees of the independence of judges, their

inviolability, as well as material security and
social protection established by law

4. Competence

FIRST INSTANCE:
criminal cases involving offenses that provide for punishment of not more than 3 years of
imprisonment
cases related to execution of court orders
disputes on divorce – If there are no disagreements about the children
property disputes with an amount of claims under 50 000 RUB and other disputes of a
property nature
other cases that arise in the field of family legal relations, with the exceptions provided by
law
cases involving the establishment of the procedure for the use of certain property
cases relating to administrative offenses referred to their competence
cases on newly discovered circumstances

5. Court sites

The activities of justices of the peace
are carried out within the judicial
district in the court sites
Judicial sites are created at the rate
of population: on one site from 15 to
23 thousand people
