Culture shock in Canada

1. Culture shock in Canada

2.

• Canadian culture derives from
an amalgamation of various
immigrant groups, and expats
arriving from many countries
may be surprised to find
remnants of their own culture
reflected in the different
Canadian
characteristics. While culture
shock in Canada is not a
problem that most expats are
likely to have to deal with,
there are still a few things
worth knowing.

3. New year celebrations in Canada

• The first day of the
Georgian calendar, i.e.
January 1 is
celebrated as New
Year in the North
American country of
Canada. New Year
Day is observed as a
legitimate holiday in
the whole of Canada.
In case, if New Year
Day falls on any of the
day of a weekend,
then the very next
weekday is allotted as
a substitute public
holiday.

The Boxing Day is celebrated a day after the Feast
of St. Stephen, a Catholic Christmas Holiday. It is
listed as a holiday in the Canada Labour Code.
The Boxing Day is observed as a statutory holiday
in Ontario. On this special day, families offer gift
boxes to those who provide services throughout
the year. They even gift presents, mostly gift
boxes to those who’re poor. The Boxing Day is
that day when the Canadians enjoy a unique
shopping experience with their friends or
families. If you’re interested to know about
Canadian holidays, check the list given above, and

The Canadian Tulip Festival is
a tulip festival, held annually in
May in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
The festival claims to be the
world's largest tulip festival,
displaying over one million tulips,
with attendance of over 650,000
visitors annually. Large displays
of tulips are planted throughout
the city, and the largest display of
tulips is found in Commissioners
Park on the shores of Dow’s Lake
, and along the Rideau Canal with
300,000 tulips planted there
alone. Millions of tulips set the
stage for a celebration of
authentic art, cultural, historic,
culinary and family tulip
experiences at various official
venues across the capital.
