Work format: Series of wall hangings/objects
Concept:
Collecting factual data and evaluating
debates around selected issues in media
resources. Checking sources for objectivity.
Developing oral arguments. Creating a team
poster/object for presentation in a Gallery
Walk.

3. Touchstone 4 potential issues:


Personal tastes: Jewelry for men. More and more men are wearing jewelry.
Is this a trend we should encourage?
• World cultures:
1.Modern technology is creating a single world culture.
2.Ever eaten dog? Some cultures eat animals which others don’t. What is
acceptable in your culture?
3.To tip or not to tip? Different cultural traditions of tipping.
4.Special days and dates. Different countries have different public holidays and
some days have special significance.
• Law and order:
1.What is the best punishment for a crime? One modern solution is naming and
shaming.
2.Are we all criminals? At some time in all our lives we have been tempted to
commit a crime.
3.Public figures, private lives. Should people in public life be allowed to keep
their private lives private?
4.Do you drive? Driving, cars, speed cameras, driving tests.
Search for facts and opinions in credible sources (governmental sources,
official statistics, respectable media)
Develop a clear argument based on the selected data and present your group’s
opinion with evidence and other necessary support. Give a poster presentation
in a gallery walk.

4. Organization

Stages: 1.1 Introductory session and group formations
1.2 Developing a clear argument based on the selected
data
2 Designing a poster/object representing the group
findings, giving evidence and referencing
3 Taking part in Gallery Walk
4 Posting feedback blogs on the LMS
Groups: 3-4 people
Series of wall hangings/objects and oral presentation
Feedback blog: 100 words
Assessment criteria:
• Content (content is relevant to the task/target viewer is fully
informed) – 0/2 points
• Product (format, visual attractiveness, neatness) – 0/2 points
• Language (Range of simple and some complex grammatical
forms and vocabulary, Accuracy, Pronunciation, Organization
of text – linking words and cohesive devices) – 0/2 points
• Presentation skills (eye contact, clarity of speech, body
language) – 0/2 points
• Preparedness (staging, meeting deadlines, role distribution,
paper work) – 0/2 points
