KEITH HARING'S WORK GAINED PUBLIC ATTENTION AFTER HE MOVED FROMHIS STUDIO TO THE STREETS. IN THE EARLY 1980S, HE BEGAN PAINTING
SUBWAY BILLBOARDS WITH COLORFUL CHALK. HE GRADUALLY MOVED TO
OTHER, MORE VISIBLE LOCATIONS, AND, CREATING GRAFFITI IN THE CITY
CENTER, BECAME ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR STREET ARTISTS.

WHY IS HIS STYLE SO COOL?His creative path was a series of defining events: influenced by
graffiti, pop culture, and religious iconography.
Haring created a universal visual language with his iconic
symbols. Behind these simple, almost childlike images lies a
