Drywall appeared between 1910 and 1930,starting with the wrapped edges of cardboard
and the abandonment of two inner layers of felt
paper in favor of paper-based cladding. In 1910,
the United States Gypsum Corporation bought
the Sackett Plastic Board Company and
introduced drywall by 1917. Ensuring the
efficiency of the installation, it was additionally
developed as an indicator of fire resistance.
