History of the museum
Viktor Vekselberg's purchase in 2004 of
the Faberge collection, owned by the
descendants of the American billionaire
Malcolm Forbes, formed the basis of the
museum's exposition. The collection was
redeemed in full. Based on the collection
acquired from Malcolm Forbes, it was
decided to create an exposition of the
Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg. The
Naryshkin-Shuvalov Palace in St.
Petersburg was chosen to house the
exposition.
