IZMAILOVO KREMLIN

3.

IZMAILOVO KREMLIN
The Izmailovo Kremlin is less popular than the Kremlin on Red Square, but
the second Moscow Kremlin is more amazing.
This is a fairy tale castle with white walls and roofs decorated with beautiful
patterns.
Unlike other Kremlins in Russia, built as fortresses, the Izmailovo Kremlin
was built as a cultural centre.
Building began in 2007 and the design is modeled on traditional Russian
architecture.
You can find hints of this in its rooftops, which looks like a St Basil’s
Cathedral.
There are small museums in the Kremlin, which is dedicated to its own theme.
Inside you will find folk art museums, bread, vodka and several kiosks selling
traditional Russian crafts.

PETERHOF PALACE

5.

PETERHOF PALACE
Peterhof is a series of palaces and richly decorated gardens in St. Petersburg.
Peter the Great built this palace as a competitor to the Palace of Versailles.
Domenico Trezzini began work on the palace in 1714, creating most of the
features of Peter the Great Baroque that can still be seen today.
Another of the biggest landmarks of the Peterhof Palace are its gardens.
The gardens are located both inside the palace walls and outside.
They were inspired by 17th-century French creations.

SAVIOUR OF THE SPILLED BLOOD
Russia is famous for its wonderful churches, and the Church of the Savior on
Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg is one of the most exciting.
Alfred Parland designed the church, construction began in 1883.
The church was built on the spot where Alexander II was fatally wounded
during an assassination attempt in 1881, which gave the church its name.
Parland designed the church in the style of Russian churches of the 16th and
17th centuries, with elaborate decorations, colored and figured domes on the
spires and large front windows
