2.

WHAT IS PHRASAL VERB
Good afternoon dear mates. Today we want to
explain you about phrasal verb.
The Oxford Learner's Dictionary defines a
phrasal verb as “a verb combined with an adverb
or a preposition, or sometimes both, to give a new
meaning, for example, 'go in for', ‘afraid of' and
‘look out'.

3.

TYPES OF PHRASAL VERBS
To better understand phrasal verbs, it helps to
organize them into two kinds of pairs:
transitive and intransitive;
separable and inseparable.
A phrasal verb can belong to only one type within
each pair (and all separable phrasal verbs are
transitive).

4.

TRANSITIVE PHRASAL VERBS
Transitive phrasal verbs use a direct object, just
like normal transitive verbs.
Oʻtimli frazemalarda xuddi oddiy oʻtimli feʼllar
kabi toʻgʻridan-toʻgʻri obʼyekt (ot) ishlatiladi.
EXAMPLE
Charlie couldn’t put up with the meowing cats
any longer.
Charli mushukning miyovlashiga boshqa chiday
olmadi.

5.

INTRANSITIVE PHRASAL VERBS
Intransitive phrasal verbs do not use an object.
Oʻtimsiz frazemalarda obʼyekt (ot) ishlatilmaydi.
EXAMPLE
The regional director was late, so the sales
team went ahead without her.
Mintaqaviy direktor kechikdi, shuning uchun
savdo guruhi usiz oldinga o'tdi.

6.

SEPARABLE PHRASAL VERBS
With transitive phrasal verbs, you can sometimes
put the direct object between the verb and the
particle, as in “pick you up,” for example. There
are, however, a few rules to follow with separable
phrasal verbs, so pay attention to our next
section, about word order.
Oʻtishli frazemalarda, masalan, “sizni olamiz”
kabi, baʼzan toʻgʻridan-toʻgʻri obyektni feʼl va
zarracha orasiga qoʻyishingiz mumkin. Biroq,
ajratiladigan frazemalarga rioya qilish kerak
bo'lgan bir nechta qoidalar mavjud, shuning
uchun keyingi bo'limga, so'z tartibiga e'tibor
bering.
EXAMPLE
He forgot to shut the lights off before he left.
U ketishdan oldin chiroqlarni o'chirishni unutdi.

7.

INSEPARABLE PHRASAL VERBS
Inseparable phrasal verbs cannot be split up; the verb and
the particle must staytogether. All intransitive phrasal
verbs are inseparable.
Ajralmaydigan frazemalarni bo‘laklab bo‘lmaydi; fe'l va
zarracha birga turishi kerak. Barcha o‘timsiz frazemalarni
bir-biridan ajratib bo‘lmaydi.
EXAMPLE : We must try to carry on as if nothing had
happened.
Biz hech narsa bo'lmagandek davom etishga harakat
qilishimiz kerak.
Some transitive phrasal verbs are also inseparable.
Ayrim o‘timli frazemalarni ham bir-biridan ajratib
bo‘lmaydi.
EXAMPLE : They went over the contract meticulously
before signing it.
Qo’l qoyishdan oldin ular shartnomani chuqur o’rganishdi.
