Animal Crossing is a social simulation video game series developed and published by Nintendo. The series wasconceptualized and created by Katsuya Eguchi and Hisashi Nogami. In Animal Crossing, the player character is a
human who lives in a village inhabited by various anthropomorphic animals and can do various activities like fishing,
bug catching, and fossil hunting. The series is notable for its open-ended gameplay and use of the video game
console's internal clock and calendar to simulate real passage of time.
Since its initial release in 2001, five Animal Crossing games have been released worldwide. The series has been both
critically and commercially successful and has sold over 72 million units worldwide.

Isabelle is a dog who debuts inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf. She
assists the player in their new
role as the town mayor as their
secretary and assistant.
Since her introduction, Isabelle
has become a mascot for the
Animal Crossing series,
appearing in all subsequent
games and becoming the
fictional head of the official
Animal Crossing Twitter
account. She is featured in
many pieces of non-Animal
Crossing media, including
cameos in various games and
playable roles in Mario Kart 8
and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
“Good morning, Mayor!”

Isabelle is friendly, polite, hardworking, and eager to help the player in any tasks she can assistwith. She is keen to make the town a better place to live in by encouraging the player to do tasks and
Public Works Projects throughout the town. She also likes to respect others.
For her, the town she works in is like a family, she knows the ins and outs of it, and has enough
influence to make a villager stop undesirable behavior - such as making them change their clothes
or stop them from saying an unwanted catchphrase. Otherwise, she seems to prefer to not want to
confront them.

In my opinion, one of the mostinteresting things about Isabelle is
how many variables of her name
she has.
For example, her English name is
Isabelle, but her original Japanese
name is actually Shizue, which
can be a reference to her dog
breed name "Shih Tzu". In Spanish
her name is Canela, in French Marie, her Italian name is Fuffi,
and last but not least her Korean
name is Yeoul. All these different
names are simply language puns,
or references to other media.
