of the founders of Soviet jet and
supersonic aviation.

Born on July 22, 1895 in the village of
Glubokoye, Disnensky district, Vilna
province, Russian Empire (now the
city of Glubokoye, Vitebsk region,
Belarus) in the family of a public
school teacher. Belarus.
Andrei Sukhoi, Pavel Sukhoi's
paternal grandfather, was a poor
Belarusian peasant.

Pavel's father, Osip Andreevich Sukhoi, was a peasant
with his father. He was educated at the teacher's
seminary. Then he worked as a teacher in his native
village.
Pavel Sukhoi was offered a position of a mathematics
teacher in the small town of Luninets, not far from
Brest-Litovsk, in Western Belarus. At this school, he
met a young French teacher Sofya Feliksovna
Tenchinskaya, his future wife.

In October 1930, Pavel Sukhoi became Andrei
Tupolev's deputy chief designer and headed Brigade
No. 4, gaining the opportunity to independently
manage the development and construction of aircraft.
This became the basis for the formation of the design
team of the future aviation design bureau.

In 1939-1941, the Su-1, Su-3 and Su-5 fighters, as
well as the modification of the Su-2 “attackbomber” ShB, also known as the “close bomber
second” BB-2, were created in the Pavel Sukhoi
Design Bureau.
