4. WHAT ATTRACTS TOURISTS ?

Belgorod is a beautiful old city. It is located in
Seversky Donetsdale. It was founded in the 16 th
century. Now it is the capital of Belgorod region, its
political, industrial, cultural and educational
centre. Belgorod is the city of the First Firework
display in honor of Liberation during the Great
Patriotic War. The eternal fire was lit in Cathedral
Square to commemorate the heroes of Wars who
defended our Motherland. There are many places of
interest and monuments to the famous people in
Belgorod. We enjoy to visit the Chepkin Drama
Theatre, Diorama «The Blaze Bulge Battle »,
Cinemas «Victory» and «Rainbow», an Exhibition
Hall, a Historical Museum and an Art Gallery.
Preobrazhensk and Smolensk Cathedrals are of
great historical importance. Fine streets and
prospects of Belgorod are wide and full of flowers.
We are proud of our home town.

• Our Lyceum was founded in 1972. It has a lot of interesting
traditions and qualified teachers who can give children
good knowledge. We are fond of such subjects as
Mathematics, Russian ,English, Biology, Chemistry,
Computing, Physics Sports.
• We enjoy taking part in Olimpiads on different subjects and
we are proud to say that we often win the first prices.
• We have lectures and laboratory works at the State
University and Medical College.
• There is a big green-house at the Lyceum. We like to do
experiments on Botany there. We presented our projects to
the All-Russian Conference «A Step to the Future» and got
the Diplomas.
• Our school-leavers enter Universities and Colleges ,some
of them return to our Lyceum as teachers.

Our highlight is an annual
tourist competition. We go
hiking in May together with
our parents and teachers.
We camp in the forest near
the river for 3 days. It’ a
great fun! This tradition is
30 years old already! Our
team successfully took part
in All-Russian Tourists’
competition. We are fond of
«Miss Lyceum»
competition. The girls are
so smart and pretty while
they compete!
Our gentlemen like to show
there strength and quick
wits during «Mister
Muscle» tournament. They
are really bright!
Of great popularity are
sport family competitions.
