Ulyanovsk is a major city of Russia, the administrative center of Ulyanovsk Oblast.
It is situated on the Volga Upland, on the banks of the Volga (The Kuibyshev
Reservoir) and the Sviyaga. The city is located 890 km to the east of Moscow.
In 2012 the population of Ulyanovsk was 637 400 people (the 20th place in
Russia).The area is 622.46 km ² (the 6th place in the Russian Federation).

THE MONUMENT TO BOGDAN MATVEEVICH KHITROVO
Ulyanovsk was founded by Tsar Alexei
Mikhailovich
and
Courtier
Bogdan
Matveevich Khitrovo in 1648. It was a
fortress and protected the eastern borders
of the Russian Kingdom from the raids of
nomadic tribes.

The school was opened
on August, 15th , 1984. It
is located: Ulyanovsk,
Zavolzhsky district,
Novosondetsky boulevard,
house number 13. The
students study in the first
shift, Monday- Friday.
Now 900 students study
at the school. Language is
Russian.

In 1780 Simbirsk became the capital of
newly established governorship, which
consisted of 13 counties. In 1796
Simbirsk turned into a provincial city
with developed infrastructure (theaters,
hospitals, high schools). The best and
the richest part of it was located on the
“Venets”, where were the councils,
provincial administrative agencies,
educational
institutions,
private
residences, craft shops, public gardens
and boulevards. The main occupation
of the citizens was trade, agriculture
and fisheries.

The original name of the city is Sinbirsk. Supposedly it was named after Prince Volga Bulgars Sinbira
(Simbir).
Since
1780,
the
city
is
known
as
Simbirsk.
Archaeologist Michael Shorin thinks that the word "Sinbirsk" has Turkic origin, and explains it by the fact
that the word "sin" means "grave" or "tombstone" and “bip” means "one" . So "Sinbirsk" .translated from
Turkic language into Russian, means a single grave. The word has the same meaning and in the Uighur
dialect (a special branch of the Turkic language). That’s why the city should be called "Sinbirsk“, but not
“Simbirsk”. Later the letter “N” was changed into “M” for the better pronunciation.

In 1924 Simbirsk was renamed into
Ulyanovsk in memory of the famous Russian
revolutionary Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin). In
2008, Mayor Sergey Ermakov offered to
return the historic name of the city, as the
city was renamed into Ulyanovsk according
the political reasons without consulting with
the citizens. But this suggestion has been
discussing till nowadays.

DANKIN ALEKSANDR ALEKSANDROVICH
Teaching experience - 17 years. Over the years, he became a laureate of the All-Russian
project "Professional team of the country" with the support of the Governor of the
Ulyanovsk region S. I. Morozov (2007). In 2006-2008 his articles were published at the
All-Russian Festival of Pedagogical Ideas "September 1". For close cooperation, he was
awarded a certificate of gratitude from the Ulyanovsk State University. In 2010, he was
awarded an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Ulyanovsk Region, a
Diploma of the Department of Information Technologies of the Government of the
Ulyanovsk Region. Also in 2010 he became the winner of the All-Russian competition
"Young Teacher" of the Dynasty Foundation and received a grant for the development of
creative activity. His students are prize-winners of competitions at the district, city,
regional levels. In 2010 he was drafted into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
for military service. After the service he returned to his native school. In 2011, Alexander
Alexandrovich Dankin took part and won 1st place in the municipal competition "Teacher
of the Year 2012". In 2014 he took part in the All-Russian competition "My best lesson"
of the D. I. Mendeleev charitable foundation and took 1st place, and was also awarded
the badge "For service to education". In 2014, he entered the top 15 teachers of the
priority national project "Education" and received a monetary award. In 2018, he was
awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region. For many
years of conscientious work, significant merits in pedagogical activity, a huge contribution
to the education and training of the younger generation in 2019, he was awarded the
Certificate of Honor of the Ulyanovsk City Duma. Dankin A.A. is constantly improving his
teaching skills. Every year he is an active student of professional development courses
for teachers at regional, All-Russian and International levels. He is a member of the
public council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ulyanovsk region, a member of
the public council for the development of education and the implementation of youth
policy in the municipal formation “city of Ulyanovsk”. In 2014, he was appointed director
of the municipal budgetary educational institution of the city of Ulyanovsk “Secondary
School No. 6 named after I.N. Ulyanov ". Since January 13, 2016 he has been the
director of the municipal budgetary educational institution of the city of Ulyanovsk
"Secondary School No. 63". Teacher of mathematics and computer science of the
highest qualification category.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Primary, secondary and
high schools are located in one building.
There are four floors.
There are two computer labs, two sport gyms, two
libraries, concert hall.
Societies: Timurovtsy, Volonteers, Young
Ecologists, International friendship club, Young
journalists, Young firefighters, Young inspectors,
Russian students’ movement and others.

SCHOOL CANTEEN
Only healthy and wellbalanced food is served
every day.
No fried food, but baked,
boiled and steamed food instead.
A lot of vegetables, fruits.
We like our lunches.

LUNCH BOXES
Sometimes students bring lunch boxes to
school if they don’t want to eat in the canteen.
They usually put sandwiches, fruits and sweets.
But all the students from primary school eat
lunch absolutely free.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
School uniform is compulsory. Every class
decides what uniform to choose. It can be a suit,
a blouse or a skirt, a sarafan with an apron,
trousers for girls and a classical suit, a vest for
boys. The colours can be different but usually
grey, black or blue.

RUSSIAN SCHOOL MOVEMENT UNITES ALL THE
STUDENTS IN RUSSIA AND IN OUR SCHOOL AS WELL
October 29 in Russia, a new organization of children
and youth, called the Russian schoolchildren
movement. The corresponding decree was signed by
Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is emphasized
that the new organization will be a public-state.

RUSSIAN SCHOOL MOVEMENT
At present, the issue of finding leaders and creating conditions
for the development of leadership in children's organizations is
of great social significance. The Russian movement of
schoolchildren undertakes this task as the central one in its
activity. In our work, we focus on the development of leadership
qualities of rural schoolchildren, since this problem has not
been the subject of systematic research. The aim of the work is
to study the peculiarities of the development of leadership
qualities of rural young people when they join the Russian
movement of schoolchildren.
