Circulatory system in animals

1.

Circulatory system
in animals

2.

Lesson objectives
To identify organs involved in transport of
substances in animals.

3.

Circulatory system is transport
system of animals.
It brings nutrients and oxygen to
cells and remove wastes

4.

Parts of circulatory system are:
Heart
Blood vessels
Blood

5.

There are 2 types of circulatory
system:
Open
Closed

6.

7.

In closed circulatory system blood
never leaves blood vessels.
In open circulatory system blood
vessels transport fluids into body
cavity.

8.

Circulation in annelids
Annelids have closed circulatory system.
They have:
5 aortic arches, that pumps the blood
(function like a heart)
Two main blood vessels: dorsal and
ventral

9.

10.

Circulation in mollusks
Most of Mollusks have an open
circulatory system.
They have: heart, blood and blood
vessels.

11.

But some mollusks, such as
octopuses and squids have closed
c.s. They have: heart, blood vessels
. blood
and

12.

Circulatory in arthropods
Arthropods are organisms with segmented
body.They have exoskeleton.
Examples are insects, arachnids, crustaceans.

13.

They have open c.s.They have:
dorsal heart and vessels.

14.

Circulatory organs in vertebrates
All vertebrates have closed
circulatory system.

15.

Fishes have two-chambered heart,
with one ventricle and one atria

16.

Amphibians have threechambered heart with one
ventricle and two atria

17.

Reptiles (except crocodiles)
have three-chambered heart
with two atria and partially
divided ventricle.

18.

Crocodiles, birds and mammals have
four-chambered heart with two
atria and two ventricle.
