The World Came to our House Today

The World Came
to our House Today

The week from April, 20 till April, 26 was
the English Language week in our school.
Due to self-isolation I decided to organize an online
activity, devoted to the topic “The world came to our
house today”.
It took place in the official school group on VK.

Let’s find interesting things made in different countries of the world
that you keep at home!

1) During the online lessons on Zoom our
students told me about different things from
different countries, which they keep at their
homes. They answered questions or tried to
guess an object.
There were some taboo objects: clothes,
shoes, toys, gadgets and home appliances.
2) Also all the students of the group tried to
remember everything they knew about the
countries.

3) Then students took part in the online
photo-marathon on VK, which was supposed
to post a picture of a chosen thing and write a
short story about it with the hashtag
“Theworldcametoourhousetoday”.
They had to answer 4 questions:
What is it?
What country is it from?
When did you get it?
What is it made of?

The aim was to involve as many students of
our school as possible. That is why I gave the
example how to do it.

Each picture & story from a participant added
a flag on the map of the world.

Result:
More than 80 students of different grades and
16 teachers of different subjects from our
school took part in our online-challenge. Some
of them presented more than 1 object.

Result:
We put 54 flags onto the map, that means that these
54 countries were mentioned in the stories about
memorable things.
