Hong Kong is a state within a state with
its own laws and culture. It is a meeting
place of the West and the East, where
high technologies coexist with the
traditional way of life, skyscrapers —
with fishing villages, and shopping malls
– with chaotic floating markets.
Historically, Hong Kong is a former colony of Great Britain,
and now it is a special administrative region of China,
striking at the pace of its progress.

Climate
The climate of Hong Kong is subtropical monsoon. It is
characterized by a cool dry season, which lasts from December
to March, and a hot and stuffy rainy season, which lasts from
April to November
In the dry season, cool air blows from the mainland, which
brings dry sunny weather. Precipitation during this period is
rare.
During the rainy season, humid air blows from the
Pacific Ocean, bringing heavy rainfall.

Getting around
Hong Kong's public transport is exceptionally diverse (land,
underground and water), accessible, convenient and
ubiquitous. There is always a stop of some kind of transport
within walking distance.

At each public transport stop and metro stations there is
information about the fare for passing routes. The fare
depends on the distance, the carrier's company and the
comfort of transport.
