Lipetsk region: one person was killed, dozens of

Deputy mayors apologized to reporters.
- Meteorologists warned us about bad
weather at 16.00. But we could not
inform the residents of the city – the
notification system was poorly
debugged, - explained the Vice-mayor of
Lipetsk Serey Troshkin. The only excuse
in this situation was the operational
work of public utilities.
During the night, the debris from the
trees was cleared, and light was
supplied to most of the houses by
morning. 58 teams of public utilities
were engaged in eliminating the
consequences of bad weather.
Specialists of the Department of civil
DEFENSE and emergency situations and
energy worked on the streets of the city
day and night after the hurricane and
the next day.

DURING THE HURRICANE,
METER-LONG PIECES OF SLATE
FLEW THROUGH THE STREETS
ipetsk was covered by a hurricane suddenly. On Tuesday, June
26, at 20.10, the sky was covered with clouds, the street became
dark as night. A strong wind rose and a downpour began. Bad
weather raged for about an hour, but ... - the Wind was so strong
that my seven-year-old son and I barely walked 100 meters from the Playground to the house. The wind knocked me down,
the child clung to me with both hands – so we went,-told us 37year-old Dmitry Korobov.

Hurricane-force winds knocked down trees in almost all
courtyards. The roof of the building of the Sokolsky police
Department was torn off, and part of the roof was demolished at
the Sokolsky shopping center. The tent from the cafe on Sputnik
was torn off and carried 100 meters away. Customers jumped
out of it as they walked. The frame of the tent was carried by
cars in the Parking lot – several dozen cars were damaged.
In the 29th microdistrict, a tower crane fell. The wind knocked
him down on a building under construction. The crane operator
remained miraculously alive: the woman had a shift change, and
she did not have time to take a workplace.

The disaster damaged ten kindergartens –
Windows were broken in buildings and
electricity was cut off. Kindergartens
together with public utilities were
restored by the parents of children.
In total, the hurricane toppled 612 trees
and 290 large branches in the city, the
press service of the city reports. At houses
facing crumbled, in total tore off 2,5
thousand square meters of a roof. Most of
all got from the elements to the Sokol
district. During Uranus, meter-long pieces
of slate flew there. Wind gusts reached 30
m/s last night, while hurricane-force winds
are considered at 23 m/s.

THE STORM TOOK THE LIFE OF
ONE PERSON
49-year-old lipchanin was killed by a fallen tree.
The tragedy occurred at 21.05 at the house
number 74 on Kosmonavtov street. An old bird
cherry fell on the man, felled by a gust of wind.
The victim was a guest worker who came from
Uzbekistan. The man was returning home from the
store. I waited out the hurricane under the porch
canopy. When the storm subsided, I came out of
hiding. But another gust of wind knocked down a
tree that the unfortunate man was passing by.
- Arrived rescuers had to saw the trunk to remove
it from the person. But it was not possible to save
the man, - reported in the Department for civil
DEFENSE and emergency situations of the Lipetsk
administration.

TRANSPORT DRIVERS SPENT
THE NIGHT IN CABS
The elements did not spare the city's fleet. As reported in the tram and
trolleybus depot of municipal unitary enterprise "City electrorannsport",
trolleybuses have broken Windows and trolleys, electric cars were fairly
damaged and from water.
Tram and trolleybus lines were de-energized on Pobedy Avenue due to signs and
billboards that fell on the wires. Eight tram drivers stayed overnight in cabs on
the routes.
To transport workers returning from their shift, the city's transport Department
organized special bus routes. By the morning of the next day, the rubble on the
tracks was cleared, power was restored, and the residents of lipchane calmly got
to work

THE DISASTER DE-ENERGIZED THE
HOSPITAL
Doctors "Lipetsk" just that night on duty in the city. In the LTZ
hospital, the maternity unit and the intensive care unit were powered
by batteries. By three o'clock in the morning, LGEC specialists
connected the building to a diesel generator and supplied electricity
to the entire hospital complex.
Due to a gust of wires, on which trees fell, 115,000 residents of
Lipetsk and 4,000 organizations were left without power. 22,000
residents were without cold water, and 16,000 people had their hot
water turned off.
The hurricane stopped the operation of four boilers, six water intakes
and five sewage stations.

THE TORNADO PASSED
THROUGH THE ENTIRE REGION
In the village of Panino, dobrovskiy district, the elements destroyed a house.
The owners-the Bekishev family-were inside the house at that moment.
- When the hurricane started, we heard a terrible crash and crash. From the
house after the hurricane had not to go out, and get out-bricks filled up the
entrance, - said the 25-year-old daughter of the owners of the house Mariana.
The building's roof was blown off and the gable was destroyed. This is the
only building destroyed in the village. The Bekishev family bought it in 1990,
when they moved here from Uzbekistan.There is destruction in Chaplygin.
There, the wind knocked down trees and tore the roofs off multi-storey
residential buildings.
