History of the sity of Murom• The city of Murom is a very ancient city of the
Vladimir region. Murom is located on the left bank
of the Oka River. The name of the city comes from
the Finno-Ugric tribe the once lived on these lands.

The love story of Peter andFevronia
• Once Prince Peter was struck by a terrible leprosy. All
methods to cure the patient were in vain no one could
cope with the disease. When the prince despaired and
resigned himself, he had a prophetic dream: Peter
dreamed that there was a girl named Fevronia in the
world who could heal him.
9.
• Unlike Peter, who was the son of the Murom princeYuri, Fevronia was from a simple peasant family.
She lived with her father, a beekeeper, in the
Ryazan village of Laskovo. From ahn early age she
studied the properties of plants and had the gift of
healing, she knew how to tame even wild animals,
and they obeyed her. A girl of amazing beauty and
kindness fell in love with the young prince, and ne
gave his word after recovery to go down the aisle
with her. Fevronia returned the prince to health.
But he, frightened by an unequal marriage, did not
keep his promise to marry.

When the messengers came to Fevronia for the secondtime, she did not refuse help and again healed the
young prince Repented, Peter married the deliverer and
was happy with her until the end of his days. S the
legends say, the spouses honored each other all their
lives, lived without deception, in peace and harmony.
After the death of his elder brother, Peter ascended and
the princely throne. The boyars supported the noble
ruler, but they could not come to terms with the fact
that next to him on the throne was a girl from the lower
class. Smart and beautiful Fevronia was haunted by the
envy of boyar’s supported and respected the noble
ruler, but they could not come to terms with the fsct
that next to him on the throne was a girl from the lower
class. Smart and beautiful Fevronia was haunted by the
envy of boyar is wives.
12.
• They tired to slander her andpersuaded their husbands to take her
out of the world. One daythe prince
was given a condition he had to
choose between the government and
his beloved wife. Peter abdicated the
throne and left Murom with his wife.
• Life in exile was not easy, but the wise
princess did not lose her spirit, she
always found a way out of a difficult
situation and supported her dejected
spouse.
13.
• Peter never ceased to treat Fevroniatenderly and never once reproached
her for being the cause of their
hardships. Soon the Murom boyars
realized that without a competent ruler
they would not be able to maintain
order in the city. Having come to their
senses, they sent messengers for the
princely couple with a request to again
lead the reign. After consulting with his
wife, Peter and Fevronia lived in perfect
harmony until gray hair in their temples
