Grammar theme: Main subordinate conjunctions
(Подчинительные союзы)
Союз (Conjunction) – это служебная часть речи, которая связывает два
слова, отдельные, независимые предложения или части сложного
предложения. Союзы не изменяют своей формы, в предложении не
выступают каким-либо членом предложения и не используются сами по
себе.
•Tom and I go to school together. – Я и Том ходим в школу вместе.
•Jack came straight to my house in order to go to the cinema together. – Джек
пришел прямо к моему дому, чтобы пойти в кино вместе.
•Neither Kate nor Jim met Ann before. – Ни Кейт, ни Джим не встречали
до этого Энн.
Союзы английского языка по своему значению делятся на три основные
группы: сочинительные союзы, подчинительные союзы
и парные союзы. Выделяют также союзные наречия.

Подчинительные союзы (subordinating conjunctions) соединяют придаточное предложение с
основным, от которого оно зависит по смыслу, образуя сложноподчиненное предложение.
•Подчинительный союз всегда ставится в начало придаточного предложения. Перед ним не
ставится запятая.
•Chris never goes to the beach with us as he doesn’t know how to swim. – Крис никогда не ходит с нами на
пляж, потому что он не умеет плавать.
•I will let you use my computer when you finish your homework. – Я разрешу тебе попользоваться моим
компьютером, когда ты закончишь свое домашнее задание.
•Unless we leave right now, we will be late for the flight. – Если мы не выйдем сейчас же, мы опоздаем на
самолет.
