Dear students, you have got enough information about English accents in the previous tasks and
now we will take a look at specific distinctions between British, American and Australian
varieties.
We are going to look at six sounds, for each of them we have given five example words. As you
hear these words, please, repeat them and look how we pronounce them differently.

PRONUNCIATION DIFFERENCESBETWEEN [J] AND [U:] SOUNDS
In American English they often drop [j] sound. It's called Y dropping.
You can hear when we join [t] and [j] sounds, sometimes we blend these
together to make a [tʃ]sound.
You can also hear [dʒ] sound in Australian English when we join[t] and [y]
sounds together.
