If
the town clock strikes while the
church bells are ringing, there will
soon be a fire in the parish.

The first daffodil
If
you find the first daffodil, this year,
you will become rich.

Unwashed plates
If
you treat someone else in your
house with food and leave his plate
unwashed for night, all year long
you’ll be in debt.

5.

Strangers in the night
If
you meet somewhere a stranger in
the night and do not greet him, this
year nobody will respect you.

6.

Heat will follow
If
the leaves of an oak curl, heat will
follow.

7.

Underneath the ladder
If
you walk underneath the ladder, it
means bad luck for you.

8.

How many magpies?
If
you see one magpie, it means bad
luck. If you see two, it’s a lucky sign!

9.

Bless yourself
If
you bless yourself as you walk thru
the church or a chapel, God will
bless you too.

10.

Saturday night
If
two lovers do not sleep together in
one bed in Saturday-to-Sunday
night, soon their friendship or love
relations will crash.

Respect your teacher
If
you go as a guest to your past or
present school teacher’s house, you
must take and give him/her a loaf of
bread. If you do not do it, it means
that you are stingy and soon you’ll
forget everything you’ve learnt at
school.
