The ripper jack is a pseudonym assigned to anunidentified serial killer who operated in
Whitechapel and surrounding areas of London
in the second half of 1888.
Prostitutes from slums to which the murderer
cut a throat before opening an abdominal
cavity were the victims attributed to Jack the
Ripper. Extraction of internals at least caused
the assumption in three of the victims that the
murderer has the certain anatomic knowledge
peculiar to the professional surgeon.

The exact number of Jack the Ripper victims is currently unknown, is the subject ofcontroversy and ranges from 5 to 15. Nevertheless, there is a list of five "canonical"
victims that most researchers and individuals involved in the investigation agree with.
Mary Ann Nikolz, is killed on August 31, 1888. Mary Nikolz's body was found at 3:40 on
Bax by Rowe. The throat was cut as a result of two blows struck with a fine edge. The
lower part of an abdominal cavity was opened — wounds had fragmentary character.
Besides, on a body it is revealed several wounds put with the same knife.
Annie Chapman, is killed on September 8, 1888. Annie Chapman's corpse was
found about 6 in the morning on the backyard of house 29 on Henbury Street in
Spitalfilds. As well as in a case with Nikolz, the throat is cut as a result of two blows with

removed from an organism of the woman. According to the witness, he saw Chapman
with the tall dark-haired man.

Way of murderSuffocation
During the examination of some of the women killed, doctors found signs of
strangulation. This explains the fact that in most cases people living nearby did not hear
screams during the murder.
Cutting of a throat
Jack the Ripper cut a throat from left to right, the wound was very deep. It is considered
that in blood it managed not to be soiled thanks to the fact that, cutting a throat to the
victim, it at the same time inclined the woman's head to the right. Jack the Ripper began
to open an abdominal cavity after death of the victim. At three women he took bodies
and carried away them with himself, at Annie Chapman — a uterus with a part of a
vagina and bladder, at Catherine Eddous the left kidney and a uterus was taken, and at
Mary Kelly heart is cut out.

Letters from the RipperDuring the investigation of the Ripper case, the
police, newspapers and representatives of other
organizations received thousands of letters
concerning the Ripper case in one way or another.
Sometimes they contained carefully thought-out
ways to capture the killer, but the vast majority of
them were considered inapplicable
In terms of investigation, hundreds of letters
claimed to have been written by the killer himself
were much more interesting. Most likely, they are
all a mystification (most believe that genuine letters
from Jack the ripper do not exist
