Artificial Intelegence

1. Artificial Intelegence

2. What is AI

• AI (artificial intelligence) is the simulation of
human intelligence processes by machines,
especially computer systems. These processes
include learning (the acquisition of
information and rules for using the
information), reasoning (using the rules to
reach approximate or definite conclusions)
and self-correction. Particular applications of
AI include expert systems, speech recognition
and machine vision.

3. Decision Support Systems (DSS)

• A decision support system (DSS) is
an information system that supports business or
organizational decision-making activities. DSSs
serve the management, operations and planning
levels of an organization (usually mid and higher
management) and help people make decisions
about problems that may be rapidly changing and
not easily specified in advance—i.e. unstructured
and semi-structured decision problems. Decision
support systems can be either fully computerized
or human-powered, or a combination of both.

4. Advantages

• Error Reduction-Artificial intelligence helps us in
reducing the error and the chance of reaching
accuracy with a greater degree of precision is a
possibility.
• Difficult Exploration-Artificial intelligence and the
science of robotics can be put to use in mining
and other fuel exploration processes.
• Repetitive Jobs-Repetitive jobs which are
monotonous in nature can be carried out with
the help of machine intelligence.

5. Disadvantages

• High Cost-Creation of artificial intelligence
requires huge costs as they are very complex
machines. Their repair and maintenance
require huge costs.
• No Replicating Humans-Machines do not have
any emotions and moral values.
• Unemployment-Replacement of humans with
machines can lead to large scale
unemployment.
