3. Why do we need sleep?

WHY
DO WE NEED SLEEP?
People who can get by on four hours of sleep
sometimes brag about their strength and endurance.
But recent scientific studies show that a lack of sleep
causes many significant changes in the body and
increases your risk for serious health concerns such
as obesity, disease, and even early death.
Sleep is an important function for many reasons.
When you sleep, your brain signals your body to
release hormones and compounds that help:
decrease risk for health conditions
manage your hunger levels
maintain your immune system
retain memory

Can’t wake up?
7 ways to wake up more easily in the morning
1. Go to sleep earlier
It sounds so simple, but it actually works.
Going to bed a few hours earlier, (9 PM
rather than after midnight) can have a
profound impact on your sleep patterns.
You'll not only get more rest, but your body
will actually be motivated to wake up
earlier and easier.
2. Lay out your clothes and things you
need the night before
Take extra time before you go to bed to lay
out tomorrow's outfit and everything else
you need to help you get going. This way
you aren't wasting time staring at your
closet for 10 minutes trying to figure out
what you're going to wear.

3. Leave the blinds open
It is definitely easier to sleep in a pitch black room, at least for me. If
you sleep with the blinds open or a light on, it'll be easier for you to
wake up with the sun.
4. Alarm!!!
The fact is that good music help you wake up.
5. Avoid the snooze button at all costs
Set an alarm for when you actually have to wake up. If possible, disable
the snooze button. Then you'll be forced to wake up and get out of bed.
And whatever you do, after you turn off your alarm clock, don't go back
to sleep.

6.

6.
Don't let your phone be the first
thing you see in the morning

7.

7. Be motivated: have a goal
to meet as soon as you wake
up
Set goals for things you want to
accomplish first thing in the
morning: exercising, writing in
your journal, reading a small
passage from a book, making
breakfast, getting coffee, etc.
Make these things priorities
the night before so when you
wake up in the morning, you'll
be able to focus on doing what
you need to. Making a "to do"
list with boxes to check off
helps me keep track of my
goals. There's something
satisfying about being able to
check a box off the list once I've
finished something important.

Don't let sleepy mornings control your life. If you
apply any of these steps into your nightly and
morning routine, you'll be able to take charge of
your mornings and wake up much easier than you
ever have before
