EXOTIC
LEATHERS
PYTHON
WATER SNAKE
Python is one of the largest snakes with a beautiful skin, praised for
its elegance. This makes it one of the most luxurious leathers in the
world.
Water snake is typically smaller than Python and is small, thin and
delicate.
The effect of the raised scales over time is a natural attribute of
python leather.
Techniques used at Burberry to elaborate and craft python skin
are extremely intricate. The skin can be hand-painted, laminated
with a metallic foil or brushed to achieve a nubuck effect.
Python skin is very delicate and must be treated with extreme care.
Customers should always be advised that products featuring
python should be kept away from moisture and should be stored
carefully in protective covering such as a dust/garment bag.
The water snake can be finished in multiple ways including matt
finish or polished finish and it can also be digitally printed.
All of the skins undergo a finishing treatment that gives them more
strength.
Water snake leather can be cleaned with a damp microfiber cloth.
Do not use any chemical cleaner or detergent.

9.

EXOTIC
OSTRICH
CROCODILE
Ostrich leather is one of the finest
and most unusual leathers in the
world.
Crocodile is very unique and
extremely elegant. It is instantly
recognisable by its oblong scales.
Ostrich leather is recognisable by
its characteristic ‘goose bump’
appearance because of the large
follicles from which its feathers
grow.
Crocodile can be easily
distinguished from alligator skin by
its considerably smaller scales.
The leather from the ostrich leg
can also be used to achieve a
different but equally exclusive
effect.
Although delicate, crocodile leather
ages well, developing a beautiful
high gloss polish with time.
Avoid humid or wet climates when
using the bag.
LEATHERS
ALLIGATOR
Alligator is considered to be the
most luxurious exotic skin in the
world. They are difficult to obtain
and require a specialised tanning
process.
The skin is taken from the underside
of the animal where the scales form
a beautiful pattern. The skin can be
hand-dyed, hand-polished or
brushed for a nubuck finish.
Although delicate, alligator leather
ages extremely well, taking a high
polish over time, meaning such
items are lifelong investment pieces.
LIZARD
Lizard has a smooth and elegant
texture and is recognisable by its
small scales.
It tends to be thinner and softer than
many other exotics and also has the
benefit of being easily dyed to
achieve a uniform colour.
Lizard is mineral tanned in bath of
salts and nutriments which leaves a
supple, soft and uniform finish.
Avoid humid or wet climates when
using the bag.
