1. HOW TO MEMORIZE NEW WORDS

BY KLYUSHKINA DASHA
AND FOKINA KATE

2. We are sure you are having troubles with it!

WE ARE SURE YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLES WITH IT!

3. SAW YOURSELF THERE?! LET’S GET STARTED!

4. 1. Find your own perfect style

1. FIND YOUR OWN PERFECT STYLE
• There are a variety of choices how to learn new words
• But first of all, decide for yourself, what is the best for you?
• Writing?
• Repeating?
• Flash cards?
• Apps?

5. 2. composing

2. COMPOSING
• Just putting the words into a text can help you to memorize
various stuff, no matter what the topic is. Write about
nothing, but make a coherent sentences.
• Approved by Dasha!

6. Here’s an example.

HERE’S AN EXAMPLE.

7. 3. Flash cards

3. FLASH CARDS
• Flashcards are a popular way of
learning new words. You can also
use post-it notes and put them in
places where you will see them
regularly.

8. 3. REPEATING

• Repetition is the key to success. That’s very true. Indeed.
• Just looking at the words from time to time will help you to
refresh your memory.
• Always revise!

9. 4. Learn groups of words that “travel” together

4. LEARN GROUPS OF WORDS THAT “TRAVEL”
TOGETHER
• Never learn a single word by itself.
• For example, instead of memorizing the word “flock”,
memorize the phrase “a flock of sheep”. Instead of
remembering the verb “occur”, remember the phrase “if
any problems occur”.

10. 5. Shows, movies, music.

5. SHOWS, MOVIES, MUSIC.
• That’s the our personal favorite among the
choices(and composing as well).
• Easy to do. Watching what you love and
listen to bombastic stuff can really improve
the level of your vocabulary.
• *so many wrong words in lyrics*
• *not responsible for the complications*

11. Still not blown up?)

STILL NOT BLOWN UP?)
So shall we continue?

12. 6. Put the words into topics

6. PUT THE WORDS INTO TOPICS
• Let’s get it straight – learning
collocations in topics are much easier
than separately, right?
• Having a topic such as ‘health’ will
create a full picture of internal
system of your body and illnesses in
your head.

13. 7. Speaking and recording

7. SPEAKING AND RECORDING
• By hearing your own voice say the words out loud
and feeling your mouth move, you are making even
more connections in your brain.
• Each week you choose a different topic. This way
you will be using different vocabulary.
• Talk at least for an hour!*better more, bby*

14. 8. APPS

• Apps like Lingualeo or Duolingo can
really help you to learn the words.
• Especially when you have a widget
on your phone with this app.
• Word of the day is the best thing as
well!

15. 9. GAMES

• Last but not least, are the games!
• Playing scrabble will test your creativity
and make you think outside the box.
• It’s not even necessary to play scrabble,
just play the variety of games with
different topics (shall we mention
shooters and sport games?)

16. And that’s the end!

AND THAT’S THE END!
Thank you!
And until the next time!
