-er, -re, r + a vowel sound = [r].
Far away – when the first word ends in –r and
the following word begins with a vowel, the
sound [r] is inserted at the end of the first
word. This phenomenon is called the linking
[r].

3. Intrusive [r]

When there is no “r” in spelling, the inserted [r]
is called the intrusive [r]: my [r] own. But it is
not recommended to use intrusive [r] in
English Standard pronunciation.

4. WARNING!!!

It is observed the absence of linking [r] in
some inconvenient word-combinations:
a roar of laughter, an error of judgment.
